The Service fulfills a component of the Medicaid drug utilization review program (DUR) to help ensure that prescriptions for outpatient medications are appropriate, medically necessary, and not likely to result in adverse medical consequences.

tipSC TEAM

tipSC is directed by a clinical team in the Division of General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). The writing group of physicians, pharmacists, and content experts distill detailed literature reviews, analysis of current guidelines, and expert opinion when appropriate into clear, evidence-informed materials and are identified within the materials of each tipSC topic. Their interdisciplinary approach ensures content is clinically accurate, practical, and relevant in multiple practice settings.

MUSC Drug Information Center (DIC)

The DIC is a technologically advanced center that provides accurate, comprehensive, and unbiased drug information to healthcare providers within and beyond MUSC. As part of the tipSC team, they will answer any drug-related questions you have about tipSC materials. Be aware the DIC is not an on-call service. They do have the capability to reply to questions in expedited fashion when necessary and appropriate.
