- Help patients increase feelings of control and take an active role in their treatment plan by engaging them in non-drug strategies to help improve pain and function and reduce the need for medications, including opioids.
- Choose positive language when discussing diagnosis and pain management and address common psychosocial factors that can negatively influence a patient’s ability to improve and hinder or prolong recovery.
